In Chinese culture, 2025 is the Year of the Snake. To celebrate, I designed a compact, foldable calendar zine that reflects the spirit of the Shengxiao (Chinese zodiac). Each year, I plan to create a calendar inspired by the zodiac animal of that year, and for 2025, I drew from the snake’s elegant, winding form.
The calendar is designed to be flexible—it can be folded into a small zine that fits in the palm of your hand, or fully extended and hung up as a long, decorative piece. I began by sketching the shape of the numbers “2025” using a snake-like flow. Once the concept was refined, I developed the final design as vector artwork in Adobe Illustrator.
Each month is encircled by a stylized snake in a different color, wrapping around the dates in a playful yet organized structure. The background features a soft green gradient, inspired by the element associated with 2025—a Wood Snake—adding symbolic depth and visual harmony to the piece.
